P0101 Diagnostic Test Code (DTC) Details - 2001 Chevy Venture

General Description: P0101 Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor Performance
Detailed Description:
The actual Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor signal is not within a predetermined range of the calculated MAF value.

Conditions for this code to set:
Certain other codes are not set, Ignition voltage is between 9 & 18 volts, the engine is running, Throttle Position (TP) sensor angle is 25 percent or less and is steady for 1.5 seconds or more, Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor is 63 kPa or less and is steady for 3 seconds or more.

What to check for:
Misrouted wiring harness - Keep wiring away from other signal sources such as ignition wires or coils, solenoids, relays, or coils.
Uncontrolled air entering the engine - Make sure oil cap and dipstick are fully seated and sealed.
Sticking throttle plate - Check for deposits around the throttle plate or bore.
Vacuum leak around MAP sensor - Often caused by poor connections at hoses or seals around the intake.

Location of main sensor:
The MAF sensor is located in the intake air hose, between the air cleaner and the throttle body.

Important Note: Just because a code names a particular sensor, it does not mean that sensor is bad. Proper diagnostic procedures must always be performed to find the cause of the problem
