I have a 98 Olds Silhouette and my ac seems to work once a day. I am pretty sure it is not the compressor since it will run, I am thinking it is something electrical. Any ideas and does anyone have a electrical schematic or know where I can get one?
Thanks! |

The schematic can be found in most Hanes type service manuals. However, you need to check a few things first. You said it works once a day. When is that? After the motor has cooled/sat overnight? If so you may just need a new clutch assembly. Another possibility is that the refrigerant pressure is low. Look for leaks. Auto Zone sells a cheap refill can, install tube. Worth the 10-15 bucks to fill the system (also comes with a gauge indicating the pressure level) and see if that doesn't help.
I sincerly doubt the problem is electrical, tho it is a possibility. But based on the limited info you provided, my best guess are above. ANother way is to find an oil change place that will check the A/C system for you for free. Let them diagnose the problem for you and then you can have them repair it or you can then go out and buy the materials yourself and repair it. |

Much of the information here also applies to other GM Minivans such as the Pontiac Montana, Pontiac Trans Sport, and the Oldsmobile Silhouette.
