Headlight Assembly & Turn Signal Assembly

There was a post in the automotive forums recently asking about how to remove & replace the Headlight Assembly or the Turn Signal / Side Marker Assembly.

Here are some pictures from my 2001 Chevrolet Venture that show how this is done.

To remove the assembly just REMOVE the retaining screw (number 1 above) and pull the assembly straight out (toward the front of the van).  Note that the side marker light is part of the assembly.

4B - Turn Signal Fastener (on assembly)
5A - Turn Signal Assembly Slot (in Headlight Assembly)

Headlight Assembly - Back

Here is the back of the Headlight Assembly.
To remove the assembly just REMOVE the wing nuts (2 & 3 above) and pull the assembly UP & OUT.

Some words of caution:
Be careful NOT to touch the headlight bulb with bare hands.  These bulbs get VERY HOT during normal operation and the oil from your fingers will shorten the life of the bulb.

Other Notes:
I have seen dealer prices for the headlight assembly and turn signal assembly go over 100 dollars each.  eBay usually has a few listed for much less.
